3 year old life

Trevor had to go early for choir practice today so I took the kids to church by myself. As soon as we got in the building Matthew ran away and around the corner. I tried to catch him but when I got around the corner he was gone, and he wasn't around the next corner either. I had no idea where he was until I heard meowing in the men's room. I found him in there running around and waving a plunger. 🤣🤣🤣

Christmas Minimalist

I am finally embracing the fact that I am a Christmas minimalist. I love Christmas very much but man does it stress me out! There is just so much to do.

This year I cut out down to the bare minimum. No outdoor decorations. Inside, only a tree, the stockings, and 2 nativities. Presents for family only-- no neighbor gifts, no ward gifts, no white elephants or secret Santa.

And you know what? I was a lot happier and more focused on Jesus Christ.

It's not that it is bad to decorate or give gifts. I know plenty of people who take great joy in those things and stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas. But for me a lot of the trappings are not just distracting, they are stressful and I spend December really stressed out. I don't like that. For me simpler is better and happier. I just hope people aren't offended by my lack of gifts for them.

Trevor and I have even decided to keep Christmas dinner simple. We are blessed with awesome parents that slave over dqelicious Christmas meals for hours sometimes, but we have decided that when we are on our own we would rather keep things simple.
